there have been some changes!
Beginning in 2020, the 9 day C1 course was replaced with the on-line BASE course and Level 1. The BASE course is equivalent to 3 days of an in-person course. After completing the BASE course and passing the test, the six-day LEVEL 1 in-person course is offered. The LEVEL 2 course (previously C2) is a six-day in-person course. Original format C2 will continue to be offered through 2022 in order for individuals who started under the last certification to finish it. LEVEL 3 new course information coming soon! Please contact us if you have any questions.

"The new educational plan has not been created with the intention of doing it easier, but to guarantee the proper application of a good therapy tool based on a good concept."

The new Educational Program, including BASE, L1, L2 and L3 courses, has been designed and structured by Dr. Manuel Rigo in an effort to increase the quality of scoliosis education and bring a more in-depth learning pathway for therapists treating patients with scoliosis.
Schroth-Barcelona Institute and all BSPTS teachers worldwide will be transitioning from the term "SCHROTH" to the term "BSPTS-Concept by Rigo" this year to better align the focus of our school with that of BSPTS. Click HERE for a brief video from Dr. Manuel Rigo on this topic.

BSPTS Certification:
Trying to decide between C2 or L2 as your next course?
History: Dr. Rigo is routinely advancing ideas on the concepts and principles of correction. Dr. Rigo has spent 30 years evolving the method from the original Schroth method. We have been teaching his evolutions and advancements all along, since 2010, and in reflection of this, we are now referring to the BSPTS certification as the "Rigo Method - Based upon Schroth". Truly, this is an incredible evolution and is to be celebrated...so the terminology is slowly changing from just Schroth to Rigo Concept.
Generally: 2022 will be the first year we teach L2 which is intended to be relatively parallel to C2 with respect to content, format and objectives. The L2 presentations are currently being finalized. The focus of L2 course is review, review, review... with a chance to deepen your understanding of the application of the material now that you have been using what you learned in Level 1 (C1 or L1). Regardless of your choice in course, you can officially say you will be advanced Schroth certified under BSPTS.
Cost and days are the same. CEU's are the same.
Case Reports: Both courses require you to submit a case report in order to be admitted into the course. For C2, only one patient is required to be in the case report. In L2, we have made the case report requirements a bit more structured requiring you to submit cases for both a 3C and 4C curve pattern. Preparing case reports is more work for L2, but keep in mind that more work results in learning more from multiple case reports and is intended to be an opportunity to get feedback from the teacher, thus improving your base of knowledge.
Pathway: If you choose C2, you are officially "done" with training if you want to be, meaning you will have your final BSPTS certification with C2 on the old pathway. With L2, you can also be "done" if you want to, but your final certification will be dependent on you taking L3 (still in development). EITHER WAY with C2 or L2, you will be able to enroll in L3, as we want everyone to keep growing their knowledge base.
